Demirci ('blacksmith'), formerly Konurbalik ('red city'), is a city of Busar, located on the island of Nöbetçi. Its position in the Strait of Calcar has made it an important port since ancient times, and the Konurbalik city-state was a long-standing player in regional politics. In 1925 the city was renamed under the Ordu, in line with a policy of replacing antiquated names associated with city-states with terms tied to professions or ideals. From 1937 to 1964 it was put under the jurisdiction of an interordinate neutral zone due to nearby intrigue as part of the Long War.
