Northern Messenia is traditionally defined as the part of Messenia that lies north of the Valderfall-Leucasian mountains and the waterline between the basins of the Gaste and the Anser river (in Elland). In cultural terms it is broadly synonymous with the Cairan World, and includes the greater Sabamic and Dael cultural areas.
