Middle Gaste - Adaque highlighted in a map of Savam

Middle Gaste (Savamese: Moyenne-Gaste) or Adaque is a region in southern Savam that straddles Dordanie and Brocquie. Major cities in the region are Maconfle, Taurive, and Castel-La-Neuve.

Adaque/Middle Gaste is complex toponym, with a number of overlapping historical definitions. Generally, Middle-Gaste is described to start in eastern Brocquie at the outflow of Lake Carles and ends near Sévinne in Dordanie. Parts of northern Estologne in Brex-Sarre are considered to belong to Middle Gaste as well. Adaque is generally described as the region east of the Réale river, which separates it from Sarre, and west of Taurive along the course of the Gaste; Adaque is also bounded to the south by Estologne along the pre-Ráth border. As such parts of traditional Adaque now belong to the territory of Brex-Sarre.

As one can see, those definition are very similar, with the main difference being that the area around Taurive is not included in Adaque. One of the particular reason why Adaque did not impose itself as a regional name is because the area is divided between several major noble titular lands (in this case several counties) instead of being centred on a single major one (such as, e.g., Piémont being contiguous with the Duchy of Piémont). In modern usage, the term Middle Gaste is usually used in documents and media when speaking about current local issues while Adaque is prefered for any discussion of historical events.

Middle-Gaste has some typical low but rough terrain in its eastern half where a line of ridges, the Côtes d'Adaque, links the southern projections of the Massif Cardussien with the Monts d'Estologne. Caused by this topography, the Bend of Adaque is a major feature of the region where the Gaste river turns sharply to the north after flowing east from Lake Carles. While they have historically slowed movement in the region the côtes are not significant enough to form any natural barrier and the lower-lying areas in-between the côtes are quite populated, even if less than regions immediately to their west or east.
