Joriscia is one of the five continents of the world. Part of the greater Messeno-Joriscian landmass, Joriscia consists of the steppes (in particular the Great Steppe) of Inner Joriscia and the more densely-settled coastal areas of Outer Joriscia. Its boundaries are defined to the west by the edges of the Messenian peninsula (the Sabamic Gate and Translacunia) to the east by the Gulf of Joriscia, and to the south by the Hump of Petty-Lestria. In common usage 'Joriscia' and 'Joriscian' often refer in particular to Outer Joriscia, which is the only region of Joriscia with global political and cultural clout.
